Over the last two years, we have worked with Cambridge artist Susie Olczak to create an interactive and light-based art project for the community.

In 2014, Susie worked with the residents of the sheltered housing scheme at Ditchburn Place to make an illuminated sign for the switch on event. We hope it will also be used at future events like Mill Road’s lovely Winter Fair. Susie undertook a workshop with the residents of Ditchburn at our fundraiser event and she was joined by Mill Road’s History Project, local poets and the Mayor of Cambridge, Gerri Bird.

Susie has created a neon sign that says ‘We will dance along Mill Road’.

In 2013, as part of the Festive Lights Switch On Event on Mill Road, Susie  asked residents to participate in a community lighting project. On the evening of the Switch On, residents were asked to put coloured light bulbs on in their house in a room that faced the street. Well Lit 2
