The lights are usually switched on around mid-November and we like to find a local community member to do the switching on. The Big Switch On event includes food, music and activities for kids.
The 2015 Switch-on event was on Saturday, 14 November. After a day of heavy rain, the skies cleared just in time for the switch-on attendees to stay dry. We had a tombola, a sing-along, and perfomers including Arco Iris and Bodywork Dance Studio.
In 2015-16, the lights have stayed on later – we are working with the contractor.
Thanks to everybody who was involved in the switch-on. After an inauspicious start to the day, the new tree was a particularly welcome sight.
Thanks to everybody who took part in our community switch on this year. We couldn’t have done it without you!
